Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair number 2, according to young people, are considered the most capable figures to uphold the law in Indonesia. This was revealed at the event “Kongko Fanta Law Ahead of the Presidential Debate: Law, Human Rights, Corruption, and Terrorism” at the TKN Fanta headquarters in Jakarta on Monday (11/12/2023).
Andi Ryza Fardiansyah, the Coordinator of the National Campaign Team for Young Voters (Fanta) in the Legal Cluster, stated that among the three pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates participating in the 2024 election, only Prabowo holds the position of chairman of a political party. As the chairman, Prabowo is considered to have full control over the political policies of his party with minimal intervention.
Andi said, “When we talk about law enforcement, bureaucratic reform, the one who can most guarantee the enforcement of the law is the one with the smallest chance of intervention.”
DPRD DKI Jakarta legislator Osco Olfriady Letunggamu also stated that law enforcement is closely related to the process of lawmaking in the DPR. As the chairman of a political party overseeing factions in the DPR, Osco emphasized that Prabowo has full authority to oversee that law enforcement proceeds accordingly.
Muhammad Rizal Rustam, a lawyer and academic, said that young people have a significant role in overseeing the law enforcement process in Indonesia. Rizal also highlighted the phenomenon of young people’s lack of trust in law enforcement officers. He believes that the Prabowo-Gibran pair offers high salaries for law enforcement officers to work professionally and not engage in corruption.
Rizal stated, “This is what needs to be seen from a legal perspective, there is a lack of trust among young people in law enforcement officers. And I see hope in Pak Prabowo.”
