Jakarta – President-elect Prabowo Subianto expressed his pride and appreciation to three Indonesian athletes who have successfully won medals at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Through his official account on the X platform (formerly Twitter), Prabowo conveyed warm congratulations to Veddriq Leonardo, Rizki Juniansyah, and Gregoria Mariska Tunjung for their outstanding achievements.
In his tweet, Prabowo started by highlighting how extraordinary it was to see the Red and White flag flying high and the Indonesian national anthem, Indonesia Raya, echoing in Paris. “It is an extraordinary pride to see the Red and White flag flying high and Indonesia Raya echoing at the Paris Olympics,” wrote Prabowo.
Prabowo gave special appreciation to Veddriq Leonardo who won the gold medal in rock climbing. Veddriq’s success not only made a new history for Indonesia, but also showed that Indonesian athletes are able to compete at the world level. “Thank you for your extraordinary struggle, Veddriq Leonardo, with a gold medal in rock climbing,” he continued.
Not to be outdone, Prabowo also gave high praise to Rizki Juniansyah who successfully won the gold medal in weightlifting. Rizki, who is also known as a history maker in that sport, has brought Indonesia’s name back to the peak of the world’s achievements.
Prabowo noted, “Rizki Juniansyah, for the gold medal and history maker in weightlifting at the Olympics.”
Furthermore, appreciation was also conveyed to Gregoria Mariska Tunjung who won the bronze medal in women’s singles badminton. Although she did not bring home the gold medal, Gregoria was still praised for her dedication and hard work that had brought honor to Indonesia on the international stage.
